Folks on Spokes
Gulf Shores, Alabama

February 1 - 15 2018

February started off with a chill in the air. Leader Jim gives information about the ride while FOS huddle out of the wind.

Our FOS ladies know how to keep warm no matter how chilly the weather becomes.

Donna and Edyth listen to instructions before beginning the ride.

Steve’s group of FOS pause for a picture at the new lookout platform.

Larry, Steve and Phyllis are ready to ride and work off some energy.

Fourteen FOS gather on a warm February day to kayak Wolfe Bay.

Wolfe Bay awaits the FOS paddlers.

Once the group was ready to paddle we headed up Wolfe Bay in search of adventure.

Great weather conditions allowed us to paddle across the channel into more remote areas.

We pulled our kayaks up on the banks of an uninhabited area and enjoyed a picnic lunch. This trip allowed us to see dolphins, eagles, Osprey and numerous other water fowl. What a great day!

FOS met for an early morning breakfast ride in February.

We pedaled to Brick and Spoon for an early breakfast.

Phyllis, Larry and Bernie study the menu before placing their orders.

Breakfast tasted great! However, we now have to ride our bikes to “work it off”.

Parker, Edyth, Karen and Jim are awaiting breakfast. What are you drinking, Jim?!!!

Breakfast at the Brick and Spoon keeps FOS smiling after an early morning ride.

Ride, eat, sleep, repeat! That’s what FOS are known for.

Coffee for the “wide awake” peddlers.

Steve, Linda, Joe and Marilyn enjoy the breakfast they didn’t have to prepare.

The Wild Hogs (Half-Fasters) had a great group of 22 riders on Thurs. This was our largest group so far this year. We rode across the new wooden bridge over Beach Blvd. and on the new trail to The Fishing Pier. Stopped at TCBY for snacks and totaled approximately 14 miles for the day.

February always includes a ride to TCBY. This warm and sunny day allowed us to enjoy a sweet treat sitting on the deck.

It’s nice to have a big parking lot to accommodate 40 plus bicycles from the FOS gang.

Bernie models our new FOS t shirt design for Gulf Shores.

Our Gulf Shores T Shirt will identify FOS as that crazy group of fun loving people who “Bike, Eat, Sleep and Repeat”!

Nothing like a campfire to warm up in a chilly evening in February.

Jim and Karen host the campfires on their site at GSP. Nice to have the park clear a spot for us next to Middle Lake.

Jean and Marilyn enjoy visiting at the campfire.

Andy and Mary have warm smiles as they greet FOS attending the campfire.

Molly is happy to be riding again after surgery on her knee. Nothing keeps FOS down for too long!

FOS stop for a picture on their ride to view Mardi Gras Orange Beach Parade.

What a beautiful place to hold a Mardi Gras party! Thanks to our hosts, Parker and Edyth.

A group picture of FOS with the Gulf in the background gives us a memorable photo.

FOS wait for the Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade.

FOS get into the Mardi Gras Parade spirit. “Throw me some beads, Mister!”

Jean appears to have the bead catching technique mastered!

Bob is ready to sit and rest after chasing the Mardi Gras floats.

Bring on the sunshine and warm weather. Carl is definitely ready.

Time for a cold drink and an afternoon of sunshine following the Mardi Gras celebration.

FOS launched at Wolfe Creek for a paddle on a warm February afternoon.

Cris and Tom seem to have a difference of opinion...which way do we go???

Wolfe Creek provided our FOS paddlers with lots of wildlife viewing.

Phyllis and Sarah paddle close to the banks of the Creek watching for wildlife.

Sue and Andy are enjoying the peaceful Wolfe Creek environment.
