Folks on Spokes
Gulf Shores, Alabama

19-31 December 2017

It was a cloudy day but FOS were ready to ride on Dec. 19.

The Dec. 19 ride to Barefoot Island Grill in Orange Beach found Carl, Tom and Chris hungry for lunch.

Hungry bikers wait for lunch to be served.

Don, Sherry, Morrie and Mary are catching up on all the news.

Warren and JoAnn talk to Sue and Dan about their winter travel plans.

Jim is getting us ready to ride into Gulf Shores for ice cream in Dec. 21. We had temperatures in the 70’s and not a snow shovel in sight!

Warren, Parker and Jim discuss the route to follow today.

Edyth and Joann are ready to ride.

Carl and Beth stop for a picture near the eagles nest.

Just a short break and we’re ready to roll.

Friday night campfire Dec. 22 was a perfect time to renew friendships and enjoy a soup and dessert potluck.

Edyth and Parker are dressed in holiday colors.

JoAnn is waiting for Warren to sit by the fire. (Sorry about the focus)

Sue and Dan have the right idea as they move closer to the campfire.

Don and Sherry are always smiling. Do you suppose they are smiling because they convinced all these “crazy” people to ride bicycles?

Karen and Jim did a fantastic job organizing the activities for the early arriving FOS during the month of December.

Mary and Morrie relax and enjoy the campfire.

Donna and Dave are ready for dessert!

Chris and Tom visit with friends while enjoying the warmth of the campfire.

A small group gathered for a picnic ride on Dec.23. The campfire the evening before evidentially kept some FOS sleeping in!

Jim stops at Lefties hole, but she is nowhere to be seen.

We stopped for a picnic lunch at the park in Gulf Shores.

Parker talks to Edyth before biking to the Butterfly House.

Check out the warm riding gear! Christmas week 2017 proved to be colder than normal.

Jim details the chilly ride and indicates we’ll stop for HOT beverages.

The group pedaled to Southern Grind for coffee and sweet treats.

Larry is sporting his new T-shirt complements of Santa.

Tom seems to think it’s cold outside. He looks warm enough to ride in these 40 degree temperatures.

Stopping at the post office is nearly as important as gettin in those extra miles on the bike.

Everyone waits patiently at the post office...perhaps some packages from Santa have arrived.

Even though the temperature was in the 40s, FOS stop for a picnic lunch.

Lunch time always brings smiles!

No ride is complete without a stop to say hello to Lefty!

New Years Eve was cold and windy. FOS had a warm evening inside the activity center. A potluck dinner followed by games helped us welcome the new year.
