Folks on Spokes
Gulf Shores, Alabama

1 - 18 December 2017

Dec. 4, 2017. Twenty three FOS showed up for the first ride of the winter season at Gulf State Park. Warm weather and sunny skies greeted us.

Getting this group to stand still long enough for a group picture is a real challenge!

After riding into Gulf Shores we stopped for lunch.

Cajun food was the order of the day!

Bernie, Donna and Carl seem to be discussing the ride back to the park.

Perhaps Jim get suggest this place again. Great food, Jim!

Frank and Kris stop for a picture opportunity at our “picture tree”.

Nancy and Ardie think this is a good resting spot.

Ardie says, “just one more picture then I’ll ride!”

Larry and Phyllis join the fun with picture taking!

OK! It’s time to move on down the trail.

Looks like Bob and Sue will catch up with the group after their picture is taken. What a great start to the 2017-2018 winter season!

After 4 cold and rainy days, these hardy FOS decided to ride in 40 degree temps. Bernie, where are your long pants?

The group decided to take shelter in the primitive tent along the trail for a group picture.

Carl and Lefty exchange greetings.

Lefty says she is enjoying the sunshine. What a great day to be out riding the trails!

December 12 we gathered for a ride to “The Broken Egg” for lunch.

Darold, Nancy and Sue thought we needed to bundle up. Did someone say it was cold in Gulf Shores?

Our fearless leader, Jim, made sure we got directions before starting the ride.

Lunch? Let’s get going!

Carl and Les are ready to roll.

Sherry is warm and toasty as she gets ready for the ride to Orange Beach.

Sunny skies helped warm us up as we began to explore Orange Beach.

Seems we have worked up an appetite so it’s time for a picnic lunch.

No doubt we have enough snacks to share. It’s been a great week!

The FOS group always knows how to have fun. We had standing room only at the brew pub!

Larry and Phyllis are trying to catch some pictures but people won’t stand still.

JoAnn, Karen, Jim and Warren found a table for four.

Jim and Karen get ready for a ride to Orange Beach on December 16.

Phyllis is deciding which way to go on the BackCountry Trails.

December 14 included a ride across the new bridges in the park. GSSP has built an amazing biking/walking system throughout the park.

Our annual trek into Gulf Shores for ice cream brought a little extra Christmas cheer.

Some of the FOS got a little “sugar high” from the ice cream.

December 15 the Big Beach Brewery provided us an evening of fun and lots of good conversation. Kathy and Roger are deciding which snacks taste best.

Parker and Edyth found the popcorn to be rather tasty.
