Ronald Wesley Griffin, 70, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, died Thursday, December 18, 2014.

Ronald was born January 10, 1944 in Pontiac to parents. He graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1962. He married Ardith Skene on March 14, 1963 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer. Ron served his country proudly over eight years in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked over 30 years as a tool & die maker. Through the years, Ron worked at many job shops but primarily Opdyke Tool & Die. Ron was very active in his community including membership in the Lapeer County Sportsmen's Club, Seven Ponds Bee Keepers Club, the Southeast Michigan Bee Keepers Association, American Legion Post #16 and Eastern Michigan Woodworkers. His interests included bee keeping, woodworking, old trucks, skeet/trap shooting and playing cards. Upon retirement, Ron and Ardith began travelling and grew to love Gulf Shores State Park, Alabama where they founded a bicycling club called "Folks On Spokes" (FOS). Since it's inception, FOS has grown to over 180 members.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Ardith Griffin; the best father of three daughters: Julie (David) Clark of South Lyon, Teresa (Bradley) Reed of Millington and Rhonda (Kevin) Lomerson of Lapeer; he was adored by his five grandchildren: Emma, Wesley, Faith, Jenna and Julia; mother, Madeline McAllister of Lapeer; sister, Lynne (Roger) Fike of Lapeer; brother, Kevin (Vickie) McAllister of Columbiaville, and his half-sister, Sharon DeGroat of Lapeer. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Robert McAllister and his beloved dog, Boomer.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 PM Sunday December 21, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Ron's funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday December 22, 2014 at Muir Brothers, Pastor Grant Lobb officiating. Burial will be at Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Food Bank.
